The short story has always been neglected in Europe nad particularly in Germany (Erzählungen). It is time to change this because the short story is a difficult and interesting literary art form. Many English and also Russian authors have specialized in the short story and produced some notable works. My favorite short story author is Edgar Allen Poe - in particular his brutal but fascinating, “The Cask of Amontillado.” Nikoli Gogol’s, “The Nose,” is also brilliant.
But for now, let us look at one of my own works, a story that I find humorous and, at the same time, a sad commentary on the strange thought processes that sometimes possess human beings. The story is short and easily printed or read on screen. (2,306 words - seven pages when printed in 12 point Geneva font) It is my intention to publish a new short story on this page every three or four weeks. More important, I hope that I can reach some other amateur writers who would like to have these work appear here for three or four weeks as well.
